Sue MatthewsDirector, Sue Matthews:
Sue holds a degree in Special Education from VCU and has over 17 years of local experience in the teaching and childcare profession. She has been the Director since OASIS opened in September of 2007. Sue leads OASIS as it offers a safe haven for children to come and learn of God’s love, as well as receive help with homework. Her passion is demonstrating the love and grace of Christ to children and their families. Sue and her husband, Steve, have four adult children and two grandchildren.

 

 

 

 

 

 



Jennifer SheppardSr. Staff Leader, Jennifer Sheppard:
Jennifer has been with OASIS since its doors opened in September of 2007. She is working toward a degree in Art Education and has worked with children in many roles within the church. Jennifer relies on God for guidance and direction and is aware that God put the plans in place for OASIS to reach the children in the Lakeside area. She relies on God to continue to show us His way and loves being able to come to work where God is so apparent. Jennifer and her husband have two children.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Sarah Mixon PriceStaff Leader, Sarah Mixon Price:
Sarah has grown up in Overbrook Presbyterian Church and joined the OASIS staff in September of 2008. She is currently working toward her Masters Degree in Elementary Education at VCU. Sarah loves sharing God’s word with the children in OASIS and watching as God works through this ministry. She recognizes that God is good and feels blessed by Him in many ways. At the end of 2009 Sarah was married and her husband is currently serving our country.


 

 

 

 

 

 


Vance PhilipsStaff Leader, Vance Philips:
Vance has grown up as a Pastor’s son, and has lived every day knowing the love of Jesus. He became a member of Overbrook in 2003 and joined the staff of OASIS in September of 2008. He was called to work with OASIS through prayer to be a mentor and enjoys teaching children about the love of Jesus. Vance works with some of the children and their families on a one-to-one level. He is an asset to this ministry as a strong Christian male role model.


 

 

 

 


Forrest ErnstAssistant, Forrest Ernst:
Forrest is our newest staff member coming on board full time in January of 2010. He has been substituting for OASIS since January of 2009. He has experience teaching at Christian Youth Theater and several summers working for Church Camps in Virginia and Tennessee. He looks forward to having children of his own one day and enjoys the new experiences each day at OASIS.


 

 

 

 

 


Marjorie HodgesAssistant, Marjorie Hodges:
Marjorie is a member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church and has a heart for children. She began substituting for OASIS in January of 2009 and became a full-time assistant when our Summer program began the following June. She is currently attending Medical Careers Institute to obtain a degree in the field of nursing. Her son attends OASIS and thoroughly enjoys his time here.


 

 

 

 

 


Cassie ScottAssistant, Cassie Scott:
Cassie has attended Overbrook Presbyterian Chruch all her life and began working at OASIS in September of 2009. She is currently a Senior at Freeman High School and is looking forward to her graduation in June of 2009. Her plans include obtaining a degree in education in order to pursue a career in teaching. Cassie loves working with the children at OASIS. She finds her job fun, challenging and rewarding all at the same time. Cassie recently became engaged to be married.
